buncheduptv Wine lovers enjoy a great wine now and then. For example, the zinfandel red wine often stimulates the taste buds of the seasoned wine enthusiast.
In the heat of the summer, however, drinking wine can lose its zest. Not anymore.
July is National Ice Cream month, and wine lovers should be aware that zinfandel wines go just as well with ice cream, as they do with any other food. This may seem like a surprise to many, but alcoholic flavored ice cream is actually a favorite in many parts of Europe. Admittedly, wine ice cream is not so common in the United States, however there is increasing popularity for it as shown in the ice cream wine innovations of Mercer's Ice Cream. Try, for example, the White Peace Zinfandel ice cream.

When it comes to Zinfandel, Americans are just plain crazy about both the red and white zinfandel wine versions, making it the third most crushed grape varietal in the U.S. Originally an obscure Croatian grape varietal, Zinfandel visited to America in the beginning of 19th century. It's grown in different California's grape growing regions from the Cucamonga Valley in the extreme south to the northern border with Oregon. From any part of California city, one can definitely be enjoying a Zinfandel experience in wine country in no time.
Though the Zinfandel grape has been around for a long time, White Zinfandel did first come to introduce itself in 1970s. Sutter Home Family Vineyard in Napa Valley is widely credited with creating what became famous as "blush wine" when they made a zinfandel rose wine but stopped fermentation a bit before to ensure it had a touch of residual sugar. Today, inexpensive white zin far outsells its pricier red counterparts and tends to be produced by large wineries like Beringer and Sutter Home.

For many wine drinkers, sparkling red wine continues to be regarded synonymous with a sweet, sickly confection that amounts to much more than fizzy grape juice. Red wine is produced from red, purple or blue grapes. Its striking red color comes from the juice's contact with red grape skins during the fermentation process. Due to its more complex flavor, red wine is mostly served at a warmer temperature than white -- but that doesn't necessarily mean that room temperature is ideal. For optimum enjoyment, it is required to chill the bottle for 10 to 15 minutes. Leading the charge for the reappraisal of sparkling red wines is Australia, where sweet wines producers have been making highly respectable bottles of red fizz for some years now. Italy and Portugal are other two countries that have long been making bottles of sparkling red wines. Till now, wine lovers face a challenge in sourcing good, affordable sparkling reds, changing tastes and perceptions of the genre signify that they are increasingly available and look set to enjoy further success in future.

White zinfandel wine is a pale-rose wine colored having a very sweet taste. Zinfandel declined in popularity in the mid 1980's and became unprofitable to grow until "White Zinfandel" was introduced. It started gaining immense popularity since the 1980s, and sadly it is often looked down on by "real wine drinkers" because of its youth and sweetness. This is sad because each wine has its own place in the grand palate of flavors. White zinfandel is light and sweet. It is quite perfect in some situations like in hot summer day with a crisp fruit salad. It's also a great way for non-wine-drinkers to get used to the flavors in wine, without being put off by a heavily tannic monster wine. The grape grows best in cool, coastal locations. Zinfandel wine is always structured but can vary from dry to sweet and from a light to a heavier full-bodied red. The wine tends to exhibit a dark purple hue with hints of strawberry, plumb, raisin, spice, leather, and tar.
