Malbec red wine from Argentina

Malbec is a red wine from Argentina which came to Miami first because of that city's cultural connections to South America. It spread quickly around the wine world, to become Agentina's most popular export wine by far, and yet remains inexpensive. Malbec is a malleable wine, which can be rich, fruity, and perfect for everyday drinking in the lower price ranges.
Yet at the higher price range, it can also be a stunning and majestic wine perfect for special occasions. Centuries ago malbec was a minor grape that was used along with cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet in the blending of France's famous Bordeaux wines. This grape produced a dark and hard red in the French climate, which was used to add color and structure to Bordeaux reds. However, in the Argentinian climate, malbec was transformed into a sweet, succulent and rich flavored wine which stands on its own.
